Name

chksize - File size checker.

Synopsys

chksize <options> <files>
chksize -c <options> <files>

Description

The chksize program can create a file size list (build mode) or compare file sizes against a file size list (check mode).

Options

-h

prints a short help text.

Long option: --help
-v

prints version information.

Long option: --version
-l

The specified files (or standard input) are lists of file names to inspect.

-c

switches to check mode. File names specified on the command line are files containing file size lists produced previously by chksize.

Long option: --check
-q

suppresses information messages about succeeded tests in check mode.

Long option: --quiet
-s

suppresses messages about succeeded or failed tests in check mode, the exit status is set only.

Long option: --status

Return Value

The program uses the following exit status codes:

• 0 Success.

• 1 At least one size mismatch was detected.

• 2 Wrong option or syntax error in check list.

• 3 Attempt to handle a directory.

• 4 Illegal file type.

• 5 The stat() or stat64() function failed for a file.
