addctrld - add a CTRL-d

Synopsis

addctrld

Description

The program runs as a filter, standard input is passed to standard output, a CTRL-d is appended. Some PS print jobs generated on UNIX systems contain pure PostScript without a finishing CTRL-d. Sending such a print job to a printer may cause problems as the end of print job is not recognized properly by the printer.

Notes

Modern print systems -- i.e. LPRng -- provide print filters like ifhp to add PJL headers and trailers for various printer models. This is a much better idea than addctrld's approach to simply add a CTRL-d.

Use the addctrld program only when copying PS print jobs directly to LPT1: on Windows systems.

Return Value

The program returns exit code 0 on success, a positive value on errors.
